Before leaving the area I just had to visit Pacific City beach one more time. Then a stop at Neskowin. Another gorgeous spot. Some good memories there. Then I was so happy to be able to get an hour or two at one of my favorite places in the world, the northern promontory of Depoe Bay, a place where the waves crash against the rocks just so to send the spray flying. Today's visit was on the calm side, but still delightful.
My favorite beach activities: 1. Beach combing/hunting--Can I find the coolest rock? Or prettiest shell? Or best walking stick among the driftwood? 2. Wave chasing--I like to go where the sand is wet from the waves and dare an incoming wave to get me wet. As it creeps up the beach I try and keep my toes as close to the waterline as I can without getting touched. Then I creep back in for another one. 3. Predictions--Can I figure out when the next "big" wave is coming? Or which wave will go higher than normal on the sand? 4. Just plain old walking. Especially barefoot. There is nothing like the feeling of feet on or in sand.

Camping Must-Have of the Day

Igloo 25-quart Cooler
I am so glad I chose to go with an insulated cooler. Even on stuffy hot days this cooler has kept my food cold with enough room for the food I packed and a bag of ice.
